Today, EA is probably best known for its annual sports game releases such as FC, Madden NFL, UFC and others. It now looks like the company wants to expand that portfolio, potentially into mobile titles. EA is hiring a Client Engineer at its Shanghai studio, and details in the job listing suggest the new project will be a free-to-play live-service title under the EA Sports brand.
People in this position have previously worked mostly on mobile projects. That alone doesn’t mean this game will be made for mobile devices, since the studio also collaborates with other EA teams on major franchises such as Apex Legends and Battlefield. And while the listing mentions “knowledge of mobile game development”, it is a preferred rather than a required skill.

EA’s official website states: “EA China brings together a number of key EA organizations, including EA SPORTS FC Mobile Shanghai Studio, EA Create, EA Digital Platform (EADP), Great China Publishing, Partnered Development Group (PDG), Quality, Verification + Standards (QVS), and Data and Analytics (DnA). This international team offers the opportunity to work on EA’s best-known franchises, such as EA SPORTS FC, Plants vs. Zombies, Need for Speed and more.”
Since the position relates to EA Sports, it means we’re getting either a brand-new game or franchise, a sequel, or a mobile port of an existing EA Sports game.
