Naughty Dog has been slacking on new games for a while now, and Uncharted always seemed like the last franchise on the list to get a sequel (especially considering how the previous entry ended). However, if a new report from MP1st is to be believed, the series is very much alive.
According to the report, the project isn’t a remake but an entirely new sequel, which should arrive after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It is reportedly led by veteran Shaun Escayag, who returned to the studio in 2021 after working on Marvel’s Avengers at Crystal Dynamics. MP1st claims Nathan Drake will return, though it’s not known whether he’ll be the lead.
The report lines up with posts from insider NateTheHate, who claims Escayag isn’t working on any of the The Last of Us projects Naughty Dog recently announced, but is instead involved in the development of a new Uncharted game.
Naughty Dog has promised a big Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet showcase in 2027, which means the Uncharted sequel will likely only arrive on the next generation of consoles.
